I view the Russian drone strike on a park in Nova Vodolaha, Kharkiv Oblast, as an absolute atrocity after it killed six people, including one-year-old Anhelina in her stroller and her mother, Inna Mariukhna, who died in the hospital after sustaining her injuries. President Volodymyr Zelensky called for more air defense support following the incident, while President Donald Trump told reporters that "Russia, frankly, has been fine on Ukraine." In the same Oblast, the town of Chuhuyiv saw one person injured as Russian forces hit residential buildings and powerlines, bringing the regional death toll to six killed and 16 injured. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that 165 drones, 105 of which were jet-powered, attacked the country on the night of October 20. The military successfully shot down or suppressed 115 of these drones across 30 different locations. In eastern Donetsk Oblast, Russian attacks on Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Ocheretyne, and Dmytro-Daryivka killed one person and injured eight others. These strikes also damaged private houses and administrative buildings.
Widespread power outages
Russian strikes across Ukraine killed at least 16 people and injured 69 others over the past day. In Kyiv, a drone strike on commuters in the Holosiivskyi District killed three people and injured four others, while Tymur Tkachenko reported that the Obukhiv District in Kyiv Oblast saw three deaths and six injuries. Regional governor Ivan Fedorov reported 848 attacks on 52 settlements in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, which killed one person and injured five. In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, an attack on an industrial enterprise in Kryvyi Rih on October 19 killed two people and injured eight, and a warehouse in Dnipro sustained an attack on October 20 that injured four. In southern Kherson Oblast, Russian artillery, UAVs, MLRS, and air strikes targeted 36 settlements and injured 18 people, including a child. In the Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Lviv, Odesa, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Zaporizhia, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions, Ukrenergo reported power outages in 12 areas. Governor Nataliia Zabolotna said in Vinnytsia Oblast that Russia continues its mass attack on energy infrastructure, while Governor Vitalii Bunechko noted that Russian forces continued attempts to destroy energy and railway infrastructure in northwestern Zhytomyr Oblast for three days. Governor Roman Romaniuk reported that drone attacks in Volyn Oblast hit Kovel and Lutsk hardest.
