Fatalities at the Dnipro platform

Russian forces killed at least 14 people and wounded at least 14 others when a jet-powered drone struck a platform at the Dnipro railway station at 11:00 a.m. A passenger train was preparing to depart the platform for Zaporizhzhia when the strike occurred, according to Ukrainian Railways. Ukrainian Air Force officials said four Russian jet-powered drones attacked the area, though air defense systems downed three of them before they reached their targets. Despite air raid alerts and announcements of a heightened threat, people remained on the platform. Station staff checked each car to evacuate passengers ten minutes before the strike. President Zelensky described the event as a "horrific Russian attack" on a platform where "a regular commuter train and a regular passenger train were standing." He questioned how many "terrorist attacks" Russia carries out after lifting sanctions on certain Russian oligarchs and energy companies instead of de-escalating.

The strike follows an escalating Russian campaign to hit Ukrainian railway infrastructure using jet-powered drones. New rules for air raid alerts followed these strikes, often forcing passengers to evacuate in the countryside for hours. While threat warnings affect trains waiting at stations, the accumulation of people and the reluctance of some passengers to move to a shelter create safety risks. Dnipropetrovsk Oblast governor Oleksandr Hanzha reported medics arrived at the scene of the attack by 11:29 a.m. to provide first aid.

Daytime strikes in Chernihiv and Kremenchuk

Russian forces also targeted other cities with daytime attacks. In Chernihiv, regional governor Viacheslav Chaus said Banderol cruise missiles struck the center of the northern city around noon, killing two 15-year-old girls and injuring at least 24 others, including four children, according to Dmytro Bryzhynskyi.

The Chernihiv strike hit the city center area. Dmytro Bryzhynskyi reported at least 24 more people were injured in the attack, including four children.

In the city of Kremenchuk in Poltava Oblast, Russian drones struck an apartment building located in a residential area. Local authorities reported that at least three people died and 15 people were injured during the sudden drone strike on the residential neighborhood.
